|
|
I emerged postgresql 7.2.1r1 with no errors.
then i started the postgresql-server with the command: "/etc/init.d/postresql start" - no problem again.
then i logged in as the PostgreSQL-Superuser "postgres" and tried to create a user (with "createuser")
I got the following errormessage:
psql: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
I searched in this forum for a solution:
i followed the tip from this topic: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=1007&highlight=postgresql
and executed the folowing:
ebuild /var/db/pkg/dev-db/postgresql-7.2.1-r1/postgresql-7.2.1-r1.ebuild config
then i tried again to create a user: i got the same error...
does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?
thanks for your help! |

Try restarting the server - the described solution in the post you linked to worked for me, so my guess is that you have a server still running on the old settings (if it's running at all). |

I don't know what the problem was.. - i installed the whole system again with the useflag for postgresql. - an older version of postgresql (7.1.3-r4) was installed automatically (i think when installing kde!?... doesn't matter..) - and than it worked without a problem.
I don't know if it the error was caused because of the missing use-flag "postgres" or the ebuild script of the 7.2.1r1 verion was defect..
greetings,
