I'm installing Gentoo on another machine at the moment. Is it normal, that everthing gets compiled twice?
After glibc was compiled it started over and compiled gettext, binutils... again. Actually gcc gets compiled the second time. Is anything wrong? |

Yes, that's normal. That makes sure everything (including gcc itself) is compiled with the newest, most optimized gcc and glibc that you just built. |

Quoting from the install doc
Quote: | The bootstrap.sh will build binutils, gcc, gettext, and glibc, rebuilding binutils, gcc, and gettext after glibc is built. Needless to say, this process takes a while. Have a nice nap. Once this process completes, your system will be in a "stage2" state. |
