First of all I see you have made multiple different threads and multiple posts. I would advise you to create an account in the forums instead of using guest. Secondly what it is telling you is that it cannot find your network module. This can happen for many reasons depending on the details. If you have just recompiled your kernel you may want to verify that you compiled your NIC support accordingly (either as a module if you want to, or direct support into the kernel). Like I said this greatly depends on the situation, where you are in your setup and what you are trying to accomplish.

I just installed the basic gentoo system yesterday, and had a similar experience. I did a "emerge sys-kernel/gentoo-sources", then configured the kernel, etc.

After encountering the same type of message you recieved, I tried making the kernel a bit simpler, guessing that one of the patches applied was causing problems. After I deselected the low latency and SMP options, everything seemed to work fine.

Hope this helps,
Alan
