I've fought this exact same issue through three incarnations of sparc/linux (Debian, Aurora, and now Gentoo)... I can't seem to change the X rez on my workstation. Changes in modelines in XF86Config make NO difference, and fbset will display the info (1152x864) but won't change it.
Anyone got any ideas? All are welcome, I'm dredging the bottom of the barrel here.
Thanks

If anyone cares...
Found the Sparc Framebuffer FAQ:
http://www.sunhelp.org/faq/FrameBuffer.html
I finally had to set the resolution with:
eeprom output-device=screen:1600x1280x76
and rebooted. Next time up, X was in the right res.
Hope this helps someone else, too! _________________ Slowlaris - not just a catchy name. |

Thanks for the pointer. I was wondering what the answer to your
question was.
This looks like a great candidate for Weve's FAQ set. |
