one patch i´ve been using for a while is asynchronous scan support for libata ( that´s the latest patch i´m aware off).
Maybe someone here wants to test it too as it actually works pretty nicely here ( tried on ICH8 and sata_sil ) and saves a second or two when booting the system

Waninkoko, just out of curiosity, where did you get the BTRFS patch to add the FS into the kernel? I only knew of the external module build. But, thanks for adding that in. |

I made it.
One thing about BTRFS: it only appears in menuconfig if LIBCRC32 option is enabled. |

One thing about BTRFS: it only appears in menuconfig if LIBCRC32 option is enabled. | Dude ... you rock. First you update CK then you make the BTRFS kernel patch. I'm beginning to think you work for Linus as a kernel dev.
Maybe you could sbmit your patch to the btrfs ML? Speaking of the ML, there are 4 patches by Jens Axboe in the October archive that you may want to look at for possible inclusion in your patch. They are not serious showstopping bug fixes, just a few things to clean up warnings and possible future bugs.
http://oss.oracle.com/pipermail/btrfs-devel/2007-October/thread.html
Just look for the patch line with Jens as the poster. They are pretty sweet patches. At the moment they are the only patches there. There is also an unstable mercurial branch for the daring.
Oh, one other question. Did you make your patch from version 0.8 or the mercurial sources from the stable branch or unstable?
Thanks again. |

gimpel, http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-565360-start-75.html towards the bottom, the ebuilds by me. If the patch is made from mercurial, which I hope it is cause there are tons of bug fixes there, so you need the devel progs as well. Hmm. I think I may need to update that ebuild with some stuff from that other guys ebuild. The sed lines, especially. Thanks for the link. Four pages of btrfs discussion in that gentoo link.
Cheers. |
