Hi all...
Last friday i updated my Ultra5 to portage tree 20070918
Then i updated my "world":
Code:
emerge -uDN world
updated a lot of new packages, merged a few new ones, and replaced a couple, all tasks with no errors
Code:
emerge --clean
nothing was cleaned
Code:
emerge --depclean
unmerged 4 packages:
sys-devel/automake-1.5
sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r3
sys-devel/automake-1.4_p6
sys-devel/kgcc64-3.4.6
Code:
revdep-rebuild
anything broken, all ok

After that, i tried to update kernel from 2.6.21-gentoo-r4 to the new one 2.6.22-gentoo-r5:
Code:
cd /usr/src
Code:
rm linux
removed symlink to the old kernel
Code:
ln -s linux-2.6.22-gentoo-r5 linux
created symlink to the new kernel
Code:
cd linux
Code:
make menuconfig
this command displayed the error:
Code:
/bin/sh: sparc64-linux-gcc: command not found
And i can´t compile or make anything.

These are some information about my system:
Code:

To emerge, or not to emerge: that is the question.

How about trying to switch to the newest gcc version and then try again?

Just to clarify: you do that with the gcc-config tool:
Code:

# gcc-config -l

should show you the alternatives.

But is that really the issue here? Doesn't the ebuild handle that all by itself?

Switching to the new gcc didn't fixed the problem.
Now re-emerging binutils, glibc and gcc. Hope this fix it.

Another issue found after last update and reboot:

To emerge, or not to emerge: that is the question.

Re-emerging all system (twice) and world solved all problems.
Code:
emerge -eD system
emerge -eD system
emerge -eD world
That worked for my Ultra 5.
After that, i compiled the new kernel 2.6.22-r5 and the udedv errors ends too.
So, i'm happy to get my U5 working fine again.
Thanks

A quicker method seems to be just remerging kgcc64.
Code:
emerge kgcc64

That got rid of the error for me (I didn't have those additional udev issues).
