|
|
Hey guys, I would really like it if someone could update the mplayer ebuild, there is alot of features that is not included in the current version of portage. Like for example, xine recently announced that they support svq1 support, and mplayer announced that they also have the support, also they now have # EGA support which would be great for older machines using the matrox g400 and tv out. Also they said that the new version of mplayer has support for tv, like xawtv. this is a feature that i would love to have so i can start recording videos from my wintv card.
Please please please have someone update the mplayer ebuild!! I cant wait for the new version! |

This post should probably go to the Gentoo Suggestions forum.
Ebuilds are updated when someone that has an interest in it does so.
You might give it a whirl yourself. Here is the Contributing Ebuilds documentation. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

you can always download the latest CVS snapshot form www.mplayerhq.hu and compile it from scratch; an extensive documentation comes with the source so there should be no problem compiling all the things you want in it |

I agree. The version in portage is still the most recent one released. And CVS shouldn't be included in the portage tree. So I suggest you build it yourself, don't worry, it's fun
And in general, it plays all media files better than the portage version on my system (even divx and wmv).
Good luck |

If you need svq1 support and don't want to compile on your own, just do an emerge xine-ui and you should be able to view your (older) quicktime files. _________________ Do you want your posessions identified? [ynq] (n) |
