Hi,
i've got a problem with ispell. If I write a file (with encoding utf-8 or iso-8859-15) with a german umlaut (äöü) ispell ist unable to understand this word. It splits the word between the umlaut, e.g. "verstärkt" (english: reinforced) to "verst" and "rkt". What can I do to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance,
best regards,
meldron |

What is your encoding setting in: Control Center -> KDE Components -> Spell checking? The correct encoding option for ispell is ISO-8859-15. Although your system encoding might be set to something different, e.g. UTF-8. The encoding option refers to the encoding of the ispell dictionary and not to the encoding of the text file to be checked. The ispell dictionaries are encoded with ISO-8859-15 (at least for German).
Matthias
PS: I had the same problem, because I thought the encoding option refers to the encoding of my own text files. Thus I had set it to UTF-8, what is wrong as I know now. |
