Hello!
I have problems with setting up RTL8139D(Hangzhou Silan Microelectronics version or something...), and drivers exist in kernel version 2.6.21. What are my options? I have already downloaded minimal install. I don't have any other linux installed, and if I have to download LiveCD, how to get newer kernel? I would appreciate any help or recommendation. 8O

stralep,

Do a networkless install then use sneakernet to get a newer kernel.

You can also install Gentoo from any liveCD. If you can find another one that works, the few extra steps are described here

Good luck

Did you try modprobe -v 8139too, or 8139cp? I think one of these two modules should get you online. If the first one does not work run modprobe -r 8139too to remove it before you try the next.

HTH.

Somehow, I had problems with live cd, so I downloaded newest portage and stage3 tarballs and after chrooting, I executed emerge -pF (packages from minimalCD manual). Thank you for helping.
