Emerge should make sure that /var and the installation directory have sufficient space before continuing with the installation. At the very least, there should be a way for the user to determine how much space the package will take up.
A good example of why this is needed is openoffice...

The problem is that there's no telling how large a package will get. That depends on your build environment (header versions, compiler version, etc.), your USE flags, and a number of other things. Basically, implementing this would be a big headache. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
