That machine uses a UltraSPARC IIIi cpu, so it should run just fine. I personally have not run it, but I don't see any reason at this point why it wouldn't.

I remember seeing something in the kernel changelogs lately but i didn't find it again.
The MMU and memory controller are integrated in the IIIi processor so i guess worst case scenario is that PCIe stuff won't work.
I keep experimental CDs at http://dev.gentoo.org/~gustavoz/sparc/experimental/ which have more bleeding edge stuff like newer kernels. Give it a shot if you get the chance, the 2.6.22 kernel won't work right on that one since it lacks squashfs (it's vanilla), at least you'll get a chance to see if it gets somewhere.
