Seems like it is unable to download the required file from ftp.sgi.com(An external source apparently) and fails after 5 attempts.
Does anyone have a solution?

Here are some snapshots I took: image 1, image 2, and image 3.

Question also posted here

Any help would be appreciated. ^.^

Okay... Maybe I should try re-syncing... Are you sure it wasn't already installed?

Yes, it was installed, which is why I deleted the distfiles then ran "ebuild /usr/portage/app-doc/opengl-manpages/opengl-manpages-20001215.ebuild fetch". A sync won't matter by the way. There's been no change to the ebuild for ages. This is a network issue, caused by something on your machine or between you and ftp.sgi.com (e.g.. your ISP or any router you might have). It could be transient, but I imagine you've made multiple attempts at this, so it's more likely to be a configuration problem. Try accessing the server through a browser and/or an ftp client (if one is installed).

I've tried going to the site in a browser, same results. And I can browse the web in the virtual machine as well, so I know that's not the problem. Have you tried to visit the site?

Edit: My router is set to defaults as far as I know. I don't believe I have anything blocked by the router either(But I don't have anything forwarded to my computer's IP address either, if that would make a difference.). I've just tried accessing the site through an ftp client as well. It just tries for a while and then gives the error: "Unable to make a connection. Please try again.".

I've found out what it is. >.<

Seems that an IP blocker that I had installed is blocking the site. I had almost forgotten about it. I think I'm going to uninstall it. It doesn't really help much and I'll just end up with another problem like this where I forgot about it and didn't know what the problem was.

Thanks for the response, and sorry for the trouble. ^.^

So, why was it blocking the site? Did it just automagically decide sgi.com was evil?

I was using MoBlock, and a premade list of blocklisted sites. It was on the list as Silicon Something Industries(or something like that). I just uninstalled it and I can go to their site and it does download the file now.

Freaking ip blocker. >.<

I was just using as an extra precaution, but I guess it's not really necessary on Linux. I might reinstall it when they make a GUI for it, since that would make it a lot easier to change the lists, but until then I can do without it. ^.^

That's so weird. What was sgi.com doing to Windows boxes, I wonder.
