|
|
Ciao,
i plugged a IDE DVD burner on my ultra5 (333MHZ, 512MB), it works fine. I am trying to use k3b. I can successfully burn any CD(R/RW), but k3b will simply close when starts burning DVDs.
The DVD drive works well on PC.
Has anybody had successfully experience with sparc and DVD burners?
SOLVED: upgraded to K3b-1.0.1 and i can now use it to burn DVDs. _________________ Willy Gardiol

It's a k3b problem, that's the reason it's not marked stable for sparc.
It also has issues burning ISOs if you try, the file dialog will crash it for example.
I'm using a dvd burner just fine in my u5 but not with k3b _________________ Gustavo Zacarias

I usually use growisofs directly for DVDs (from dvd+rw-tools) and had some good experience with gnomebaker too. _________________ Gustavo Zacarias

Mine is a NEC_DVD_RW_ND_2510A and works flawlessy.
I also tried a Philips DVD RW but the U5 will refuse to boot (IRQ14 uncatched or similar errors)
I have good news to report: k3b-1.0.1 (i grabber the ebuild, overlayed it and put sparc in the keywords) works! I can fully create DVDs with it. _________________ Willy Gardiol
