Hi,

I am Thai and I have many Thai songs with id3 tag in Thai.
The problem I am having now is that both mpd/mpc/sonata/gmpc and audacious can't render tag information correctly.

They both used to be able to get it right a while back, but now it's screwed up somehow/somewhere.
I have my whole system set with locale en_US.utf8 with also an available locale th_TH.utf8 and all tag are set with id3v2 through xterm, I am sure all tags are in utf8. The font I use is Tahoma and I know it has Thai code, Firefox/Gaim work fine. This is how I got audacious and mpd to work at the time.

I emerge -puvDN regularly.
I listened to English Classic Rock and no Thai songs for a while, so I didn't notice at what point in time things got screwed up.

The problem is I have no idea where I need to check.
It can be one or many of the following.
locale (en_US.utf8 now)
tag encoding (utf8 now)
gtk+ (shouldn't be here because Gaim works fine)
font (Tahoma -- works fine Gaim though)
libid3/libmad
player (mpd or audacious)

The only way that get it right is using xterm and play mp3 with mplayer or mpg123.
This way I see tag info correctly because all are in utf8.

Please help,
Grad_guy

Hi,

Since audacious comes with id3 tag info editor (in playlist), I try typing Thai title and artist into a song and save.
It works and stay readable in Thai in playlist.

Now when I use id3v2 -l with that file in xterm (utf8), I see unreadable info.
So I can say it's not utf8.

Is there a way I can identify what code this info is set into this mp3 song?
