glad to see it back again though, heh. | Now that was a waste of perfectly good database space.
And, before you point it out, yes, this too... _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto

The forums were down (evidently for maintennce) a little bit ago. At first they were working, then they were spitting out phpBB errors that they couldn't connect to the database, then this morning it said 'down for maintenance' and now they're back up.
I was wondering, does anyone know what was up? It almost looked like the db went down for a while (well it did, but i mean failed) and had to be repaired. On christmas everything was going really slow and i couldn't post to any topics and then it finally just stopped working all together. That's why i was thinking maybe the problem wasn't expected.
I have to say though, the forums are going real fast now. Maybe even a little faster than before, so maybe it was just maintenance or an upgrade, a larger array or more memory or another box in the cluster or something. _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration

I guess it can be everything.
Maybe they just had to kill that forkbomb running on the database server |

huh, never heard of a forkbomb before.
:(){ :|:& };:
neat. put that into bash guys, and then reboot cuz you won't be able to do anything else ; )
I am assuming you are being facetious, but if you weren't, i would love to hear about the problem the db was having... (too many people using the forums could definitely have the same effect, an 'intended forkbomb' eg insufficient hardware ; ) _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration

I guess they were adjusting their modified phpBB version to apply the changes made in phpBB-2.0.22 - see here
But since the footer still says phpBB 2.0.21-gentoo-p5 I do doubt that a bit ... _________________ Antonino Catinello | http://catinello.eu |

We had some trouble and all people with the proper skills and permissions were engaged in other activity, so getting it fixed took a slight bit longer than usually - that's the downside of holidays. _________________ Dinosaur week! (Ok, this thread is so last week) |
