that is pretty nice, probably using the google api or some scripting goodness.

If you read the linked article, you'll see that SearchMash is actually the testbed for Google's next algorrythms. It's a Google2 Beta (actually, more like an Alpha).
It uses the same index than normal Google, but that's all.
