I can't emerge coreutils-6.4 on my stable system. It complains that aclocal-1.10 is not installed. I am assuming aclocal-1.10 is part of automake-1.10, which is marked unstable on amd64.

More specifically:
Code:
 * Running eautoreconf in '/var/tmp/portage/coreutils-6.4/work/coreutils-6.4' ...
 * Running aclocal -I m4 ...                                              [ !! ]

 * Failed Running aclocal !
 *
 * Include in your bugreport the contents of:
 *
 *   /var/tmp/portage/coreutils-6.4/temp/aclocal-8582.out

!!! ERROR: sys-apps/coreutils-6.4 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1546:   Called dyn_unpack
  ebuild.sh, line 708:   Called src_unpack
  coreutils-6.4.ebuild, line 75:   Called eautoreconf
  autotools.eclass, line 83:   Called eaclocal
  autotools.eclass, line 121:   Called autotools_run_tool 'aclocal' '-I' 'm4'
  autotools.eclass, line 242:   Called die

!!! Failed Running aclocal !
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

fantabus tmp # cat /var/tmp/portage/coreutils-6.4/temp/aclocal-8582.out
***** aclocal *****

am-wrapper: /usr/bin/aclocal-1.10 is missing or not executable.
            Please try emerging the correct version of automake.

Addendum: If anyone can confirm my suspicions, I will file a bug report.

Same problem here, amd64 too.

OT: this forum sometimes is quite annoying: I put first "aclocal-1.10 is missing" and then "coreutils aclocal" on the "quick search" and did not find any useful result, then I went on Portage&Programming to post my thread about this coreutils issue, and I found this one already there...

AMD 64 had same issue last night after emerge --sync.
just tried emerge --sync && emerge -av coreutils
and it worked and built coreutils 5.94-r1
Last night I was running a emerge --sync && emerge --update --deep world, though I doubt it makes any difference

I'll post a bug report then.

Vicchius: Yeah, I know what you mean. I hesitated for half an hour before posting this. I also searched for coreutils aclocal, and apparently, it really didn't exist this time. Yay.

I have a AMD Athlon64 3200 Socket 754 and a nForce 3 250GB mainboard.

Coreutils 6.4 have compiled fine today in the morning.

Actual base system, gcc 4.1.1 and glibc 2.3.6-r4.

cflags="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
makeopts="-j1"

no ldflags set.

Correct, this is fixed in the latest sync. You no longer need automake-1.10.

I don't use ruby, so I can't confirm, but there doesn't seem to be a bug report on it. Yet.

I added automake to package.keywords so that it would pull in the masked 1.10 version (~amd64). then I could emerge Ruby successfully.
