Hi,

I'm wondering how I could compile packages which aren't in the portage tree. OK, of course I can compile and install them, but they won't really fit into the system as nicely and the most important: I'm not having the possibility to uninstall them with portage.

So my question is: Is there a way to let portage recognize my own compilations? F.ex. I want to compile keramik for KDE and perhaps uninstall it later. How to do that "the gentoo-way"? :-)

Thanks a lot,
Marcel (becoming a real gentoo-fan ;-) )

One possibility would writing an ebuild for it... There's a lot of doc about it in the Gentoo site.
