Multithreaded bzip2

I have been playing with the bzip2 source. Since I have an smp machine, I decided to try and make it multi threaded.

Only the compression stage is multithreaded, I haven't changed anything for decompression. On my dual-athlon machine I get near 100% speed-up (compression time almost halved) for files larger than 2 MB.

It is still a very early test version, so don't use it on critical applications yet I would however like to hear from other people with multi processor systems, what their experiences are with this code.

If it works as well as you say it does you should continue you're work and give it to the people who maintain it. It would be great time saver esp for developpers.
