I get the whole cow heritage thing and i see where you guys are coming from. But really, having a cow mascott, um . . .no. Kinda gay.
A bull maybe, all pissed off and blowing steam, that I could get down with, but the lame cow, Im not feeling the jazz on that one.
I opt for a better mascott. Even a billy goat would be cool, that I could get a tattoo of and be proude. Just a segestion, and keep in mind i've been up all night codeing and im drunk.
Lose the cow! |

Since a Gentoo Penguin is the fasted swimmer out of the different types of penguins perhaps it should have been a penguing strapped to a rocket. _________________ AMD 64 3500+, 2Gb RAM DDR400, 2 x 180Gb SATA, 256Mb Nvidia |

Ya know, I went to the zoo in Chicago and saw a gentoo Penguin and I was really impressed. Those are some dope birds. I have an admiration for the gentoo now. But then again, an ACME style rocket on the ass of a bird never let me down.
As I think back to the days of Wyle E. Coyote, Acme style rockets and sling shots have always played an important role in the progress of nature. As I'm sure they will in the progress of Linux. |

Moved from Off the Wall to Gentoo Chat.
I like Larry the Cow, our sexually confused mascot. |

Why do it differ from any other big FOSS operating system?
FreeBSD has a devil (Which is really cool imo)
SUSE has this ugly lizard thing
KDE has a dragon
Gentoo has a COW!!!!
The other ones has those EVIL animals! EVIL!!! Larry is a good cow |

I love Larry the Cow... and I agreed to "eroyf" its a Good Cow. Its a very Unique mascot....
We must be creative enough to design our own mascot. Since we already got a COW, we must be proud of it....
You cant find such creativity on other *distros.....
Penguin thing is already belong to Linux (general)....
anyway, Larry is a masculine name... |

I also have problems with the cow, and I just try not to think about it. It doesn't fit in the least with the vibes I get from Gentoo overall.
I never liked Gateway's logo for the same reason. And that Chik-Fil-A [U.S. fast food restaurant] cow bothers me, too, although at least with it there's some kind of basis (i.e., eat chicken, not cow).
There's something about the cow business that's just a little too middle America, HeeHaw, cornpone, Ma and Pa are back on the farm, baby sister's a majorette, brother Tommy loves fiddling with his computer when his chores are all done, .... Give me a glass of milk, will ya', Grandma? You get the idea.
Go with the Gentoo penguin on a rocket or something like that. Using a cow mascot and naming the distro after a penguin is mixing metaphors, anyway.
Ditch the cow. Please. The sooner the better. _________________ This space available! |

I was born in Germany and we also have a lot of cows. You have to broaden your horizon |

Yes, but I feel certain that your German cows are more sophisticated, more erudite, perhaps with a philosophical bent and certainly worldly-wise. The U.S. cows are just cows. I saw one up close once, and I know what I'm talking about. _________________ This space available! |

That's the first pro-Larry argument that I've found even remotely convincing. _________________ This space available! |

Cow Tipping is a myth by the way...I know some guys that tried once.
All that happened was they bounced off and hurt their shoulders. Funny story though. _________________ Party On! |
