|
|
As mentioned in this thread, the User Relations Project is seeking nominations for the position of User Representatives.
When making a nomination, it is necessary that you mention where the nominee is from (IRC, these forums, mailinglist, wiki, other), their nick, and optionally why they should be a candidate.
After two weeks, the User Relations members will look over the list of candidates and come up with a list of 10-20 candidates. These candidates will then be put up for election on these forums.
If you have any queries about the purpose or duties of a User Representative, please post them in this thread.

Where is the announcement to the mailing list?
A lot of ml-users never look into the forums!
And why is the election in the forum and not mailing list? _________________ Study finds stunning lack of racial, gender, and economic diversity among middle-class white males

An announcement will be made to the gentoo-user mailing list about this. It is also being included in this week's GWN.

The election is being held on the forums because they have the necessary software needed to create anonymous polls. The nominees do not have to only come from the forums (we don't want them all to). |

so far no announcement on the mailing lists (no on gentoo-user, gentoo-amd64 or gentoo-announce) and from the traffic on gentoo-dev I would say, that GWN won't be delivered this week.
So maybe someone should post the announcement instead of waiting for GWN?
btw, I nominate:
Richard Fish
and
Duncan
both from the mailing lists. And both are regulars there, where they helped a lot of people. Duncan is sometimes annoying with his overlenght posts, but a lot of people find interesstiong points in his postings. _________________ Study finds stunning lack of racial, gender, and economic diversity among middle-class white males

I'd like to nominate these three gentlemen:
cokehabit
Headrush
loki99
They all are Veterans of Gentoo Forums and throughout several years of their presence on the forums they've proved their knowledge, willingness to help and understanding of Gentoo and Linux in general.
If any of them accepts the nomination I'd be more than happy to see such a person as one of Our (User) Representatives. _________________ My blog: In search for ultimate programming language |

I would like to nominate the following.
For their work on the forums:

headrush
For their work in the irc channels and forums:
Q-collective
omp
As a special nomination for all his work and given his current status:
Halcy0n
I won't nominate mods, admins or devs as they are the other side. Otherwise, I would nominate quite a few. _________________ Jorge.

I'll second the nomination for Duncan.
Although long, his posts to the mailing lists are always helpful, well informed, and polite. He never comes across as a scolding parent like I sometimes do... |

Unfortunately the Userreps article was edited out of the GWN, as it made the publication too long. Hopefully there will be an article about it in the coming weeks.
It has been posted to the gentoo-user mailinglist. |

I have unforgivingly forgotten the following.
For their work on the forums, but mostly for daring to think "out of the box", for presenting different viewpoints and creating alternatives, I nominate:
Bob P
ecatmur

It would be an honor to have Bob P as a representative. Both for us and for him, for his hard but highly esteemed work. I heartedly second this nomination. _________________ My blog: In search for ultimate programming language |

I definitely vote for bob p, cokehabit and ecatmur. They've done a lot for the forums and the community as a whole, and are really helpful to those they come across. |

I've noticed a lot of people are recommending cokehabit, but shouldn't someone who represents the Gentoo user base use Gentoo himself? _________________ meow. |

What are you referring to? He does use Gentoo.
Just because I use AIX Unix, FreeBSD, Fedora Core 4, Mac OSX, Redhat Enterprise 3, and Windows XP doesn't mean that I don't use Gentoo as well on a regular basis.
If you want to state your opinions otherwise, please take them offline or out of this thread. Thanks. |

Afaik he has a Ubuntu-only system for some time now. |
