Hi,

I`m planning to install a dualboot Solaris-Gentoo on a Blade 100 after the exams, starting from a stage 1.
I was wondering if the VIS-capabilities of the UltraSparc IIe-processor were used for optimization, like SSE or 3dnow are on x86 ... I`m especially wondering if, to use VIS, you have to specify it in your cflags, or if it`s implied by -mcpu=ultrasparc and/or -mtune=ultrasparc ?

Thx in advance, and soz if this is a dumb question :)

It doesn't look like they are supported in the 3.2.x series (current stable gcc on sparc) but for reference, the page for sparc options in cflags is http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-3.2.2/gcc/SPARC-Options.html#SPARC%20Options
