So, I just wanted to install the unstable amarok with its moodbar feature.
In order to find out that visualization is not the USE flag for
it but exscalibar I had to google these use flags which were
not active on my system before.

This made me think about the way Gentoo documents use flags. The file
/usr/portage/profiles/use.desc or the online list is by far not complete.
Is there an other ressource I am missing besides Gentoo-Portage.com
which only list which ebuild is useing which USE flag?

My suggestion would be to add a list of use flags to the package detail page
with a link to the Gentoo Wiki for every use flag (see example below).
So everyone could contribute to the use flag description.

What do you think?

See a similar post about the lack of USE flag documentation.

Example
amarok 1.4_beta3-r2
Use Flags: aac arts debug exscalibar flac gstreamer ifp ipod kde musicbrainz mysql noamazon opengl postgres real visualization xinerama xmms

Code:
/usr/portage/profiles/use.desc
/usr/portage/profiles/use.local.desc

Code:
grep exscalibar /usr/portage/profiles/use.*
