at the end of the emerge for wine a message is displayed about running regapi setValue < /etc/wine/winedefault.reg.
when i do this it tells me "cannot find 'setValue' has anyone elser encountered this?

when i try to install office i get errors about "unable to delete key" and what look like registry addresses, and i beleive it has something to do with this.

heres somemore info:
office gives the error :
"Error 1404. Could not delete key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Interface\{00... (lotsa digits mostly 0's)...00046}. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personel." (that's you guys :) )

in the terminal i see:

fixme:reg:RegGetKeySecurity (988,7,0x413d5888,1024): stub

any help would be much appreciated becaue after all office is the only reason i even use windows anymore and id like to drop the partitioon. thanks in advance

Well, Office is trying to modify HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, which (under Windows) only Administrator can do, as it affects the whole system. I think this is stored in /etc somewhere, so you'll need to be root to modify HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, which means you need to install Office as root.

Or are you...?

is refering to the fact the app connot modifiy wine's sysreg????

getting the exact same error running neverwinter nights (yes I know linux binaries are on there way but I couldnt wait :) )installed native com* and direct sound dll's and so far have managed to get through the movie trailer (although not quit 100% to look at ) but this error keeps coming up and firing up the debugger......
