I have heard great things about the development kernel, but as of now I have no luck getting my system to boot one. I have tried the vanilla dev-sources, and mm-sources since but no luck with either. I have module-init-tools emerged and have recompiled the nividia drivers after each kernel compile. What else am I missing? My Hardware is an Epox 8RDA+ nForce2 with Athlon XP 2400+ 512mb DDR if tha mtakes any differene. Thansk for your insight. _________________ True trade is honest, but not merciful. Are you using the same configuration you used before? What happens when you try to boot? _________________ Anyone who attributes a quote to themself is a pompous fool.

Hey sorry, I didn't give you much info to go on did I. Well, when I boot up just about the only thing that load correctly is vcron and maybe a few other things, when the kernel is initializing the services most fail to load. Modules don't load xfont server doesn't kdm doesn't it goes by so fast I can't give the exact details but most of the screen is red with errors instead of the usual green [ok]. _________________ True trade is honest, but not merciful. Ok, last night I tried to recompile a 2.5.68 kernel and a 2.5.69 kernel, both got me less than the 2.5.69-mm-sources. Here is a screen shot to show you what I mean. The computer locks up right after I select the new kernel in grub.
2.5.68 kernel screen shot:

2.5.69 kernel screen shot:

Another 2.5.69 screen shot:

I think I've compiled in all the options in the kernel I should have, I followed the gentoo install guide for that. Does anyone have any ideas? _________________ True trade is honest, but not merciful.
