I keep getting
Input/output error
occasionally with files when mv-ing from one hard disc to another. As far as I can discern it is only when the files are > ~600MB and it is consistent with the same files - i.e. one 750MB file will transfer without quibbles back and forth back and forth whilst another 700MB file just won't budge.
it'll start and get a fair bit through before churning out the error, but after 100 or so attempts with that file I just have to give up.
I am copying from my /home partition (ext3) to a /backup partition (also ext3) on another hard disc. |
