Are there any tools that will rip "Copy Controlled" discs? I, unfortunately have one, and I want to add it to my mp3 collection (consisting entirely of music I OWN).
Strange business tactic to piss off the customer with technology that doesn't actually prevent real piracy.
Cheers,

I have also a CD with copy protection, and I have only been able to find information on diffrent windows programs that can do it. I would really like to rip the CD to my ogg collection. I know that the type of CD protection is "Catus data shield" _________________ Kind regards, enrique

depends on the type of copy protection and how your cdrom reacts to it (some drives get confused by one protection, some not).
emerge cdparanoia and give it a try. |

Here's a site that keeps a list of copy protected cd's. Before you buy one, check here first, then email the record company that you won't buy it because of copy protection. Also some links on how to deal with it.

I have grip installed, which uses cdparanoia. It's completely confused by the CD. |
