smc Barricade + Epson photo 830 + cups = help!

Hi,

I've tried posting about this before at linuxnewbies.org but never got it resolved - everyone has been so helpful here in the past I thought I'd give it one last shot!

I have an smc barricade with a remote print server which should be easy to configure in the follwing way:

Set up cups (checked its working fine by printing to a brother laser on a windows box)

install gimp-print stuff - again fine

use a remote lpd cue in cups setup with the following:

lpd://192.168.123.254/lpt1

Epson photo 830 recommended driver

Set it off to print and nothing (when looking at completed jobs it says they were cancelled) I've tried using various different que names that I've googled for but none of them work, the IP address is also correct. I can also print to the epson from windows so it works fine too.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
