Hey!
This is my first time to install linux and it is on a sparc64 server.
The error i get is:
Cannot find /boot/linux-2.4.31-rev1 (Unknown ext2 error)
Image not found.... try again
i have the "linux-2.4.31-rev1" in my /boot directory
in my etc directory i have the "silo.conf"
this is my "fstab":
/dev/hda1 /boot ext2 noauto,noatime 1 2
/dev/hda6 / ext3 noatime 0 1
/dev/hda2 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,ro 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0
none /proc/openprom openpromfs defaults
and this is my "silo.conf":
partition = 1 # Boot partition (= root partition)
root = /dev/hda6 # Root partition
timeout = 150 # Wait 15 seconds before booting the default section
image = /boot/linux-2.4.31-rev1
label = linux
any ideas what is wrong?
thanx!

Hello,
I've been working on sparc for some days (Blade 100). Try to get a kernel below 3.5MB, compile just the necessary drivers built-in (video, ide, networking) and leave others as modules. 2.6 Kernels can grow more, but 2.4.x are very limited. _________________ Santiago Núñez

This is no longer an issue in the later versions of SILO and the kernel on SPARC64. You can supposedly have a kernel up to 8MB in size now (though I can't say I've actually tried to do that ) |
