X and KDE install

Im just running through the desktop tutorial and this is prolly a very simple problem but I have compiled xfree done the config file and the xfs startup but soon as i get to the startx command it wont start. It just says

-bash command not found

Do i need to go into a certain directory to do it?

/usr/X11R6/bin/startx

that where startx is. echo $PATH and see if /usr/X11R6/bin is in you path.

probably you didn't do a env-update somewhere?
