i've got x 4.3 installed. i've got a radeon 7000 card. i have kernel radeon support. i had drm/dri working a few weeks back (when i did my initial install). i do not have dri now. in my x log i have a message about incompatible version numbers for the kernel modules (1.1 when 1.3 was expected maybe). i have 2.4.20 kernel installed.
has anyone encountered this?
can i tell xfree to ignore the version numbers?
is there an updated kernel driver available? (i've emerged xfree-drm, but that didn't help maybe i had radeon build into the kernel and not as a module, i can't recall).
how can i check the kernel version number for this module? |

emerge xfree-drm
do this every time you install a new kernel, as make modules_install will overwrite your newer DRM modules. |

i tried to emerge that, but it still doesn't help. guess i'll try grabbing the source for 4.3 but that s/b the same as emerge.....

The radeon module version problem usually occurs when the radeon driver is enabled in your kernel (which has an old version) instead of just using xfree-drm (which contains the new version. Check out this thread. |
