Anybody have a relatively cheap scanner that works well in linux? I would just go by the sane website, but it said a certain scanner works fine, and then on some forums people were having problems with software related to it. So apparently you can't just go by that

Anybody have a success story, worked fine the whole way through?

We have a Scanjet 4470c, which apparently isn't going to be supported in linux anytime soon. Its the only thing keeping me booting back into windows!

Nabbed an Epson perfection 610 of ebay for cheap a while ago, AFAIK any USB Epson will work with sane just fine.

I like my Epson Perfection 1260 Photo (has all the transparency & 35mm adapter stuff included). Was $130 w/a $30 mail in rebate at CompUSA a while ago. I had to use plain ole sane-backends sources together with plustek-sane sources to get it working, but it was easy and works great.
