|
|
Hi all,
I'm trying to get sound to work on a Toshiba Satellite 2435. I'm wondering if there is...
1. Anyone out there who has sound working on a Toshiba Satellite 2435?
2. Anyone who has sound working on a Toshiba Satellite who might be able to help me?
or...
3. Anyone who can point me in the direction of a good tutorial/info that might help me resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance |

First thing i would do is find out the chipset for the sound card, so you can load as a module or compile into kernel. I will search for that laptop on google to help you.
later,

Thanks. I belive it is a realtech card...and I did make some attempts to try different things in the kernel, however none of that worked. The problem could be my limited understanding of how to correctly compile items into the kernel, so any directions you have in that area would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your help. |

Realtek ALC202 - is the card your computer uses, there is nothing on gentoo forums of this card....what you could do is click all sound options, and have them compiled and then if sound does work find out what it is using, which i dont know how to do, unless is loading on start up, and you would search through dmesg in console....on compiling the kernel this is taken from the install docs:
Compiling the Linux Kernel
# cd /usr/src/linux
# make menuconfig
# make dep && make clean bzImage modules modules_install
# cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot _________________ dj_goku | www.tektronic.org |

Ok, I've got it. To get sound working (and fairly well), the kernel needs to have access to...
'Intel ICH (i8xx), SiS 7012, Nvid...'
once I compiled the hernel with that built in, the sound worked. It isn't as loud as I thought it was pre-gentoo, but that could just be me. Unless any other developments occur, I'm calling this complete |
