Say you have /mnt/something
and it is an smbfs mount to another system
and then in your home directory
you've done: ln -s /mnt/something something
so you have the something directory in your home directory
if the /mnt/something isnt mounted
ls --color=auto
will NOT work in your home directory now.

I have no earthly idea who to report this one to, the binutls team? the samba team? gentoo dev's? Could go to many different people...

Seems to only happen after the windows machine that the mount is connected to reboots while connected.
