Okay, this isn't anything new to many of you but I just had to proclaim my happy success of installing Gentoo and the more I screw things up with it, the more I'm learning.
I'll admit, I still use Debian on a regular basis but Gentoo had really raised my eyebrows.
The one thing I need to get used to is having portage downloading and installing tarballs which are SO MUCH BIGGER than .debs. The downside of installing from source, eh?
Took 10 hours to download and install everything for a useable KDE3. Yikes.
But overall, I'm really happy with Gentoo and want to congratulate the developers and such. That's all.
Thanks for the help from this forum and the irc channel.
Ta TA!
