I have a Promise FastTrack TX2 pci raidcard. I would like to use it in a raid 1 (mirror) configuration, with 2 IDE disks. I know how to install it in Windows, but never used with gentoo.
1) Do I have to set up the card during install or is it possible to add the card afterwards?
2) Is it a simple task to get it up and running? |

Most hardware RAID controllers are set up in a BIOS dialog.
Check if there is any message like "To enter setup hit [XXX]"! on boot. It has to be a sencond one, not he mainboard bios message.
If you can't find any check the manual.

That's not a hardware RAID card. It's software RAID with BIOS support for booting and array maintenance.

If you are using the controller in a dual-boot machine, use dmraid, if you are setting up a Linux-only machine use Linux native software RAID |
