Hi swishy,

A word of advice, I'd really recommend installing e17 into somewhere you can easily find it/change it/get rid of it later (eg /usr/local/e17) because it's cvs and often changing. You might have to add /usr/local/e17/bin to your path (and possibly ../lib to your ld.so.conf) but it'll make things a _lot_ easier later on. Also this way, you should be able to install both e16.5 and e17 along side each other.

Here's a few links that might also help.
http://www.cuddletech.com/e17/
http://www.hiddenrock.com/~tam/e17/config.html (<-- shows how to get the file manager (efm) and iconbar)

Good luck,
have a nice day.

Mike
