The new FreeBSD logo competition has finished with Anton K. Gural's design winning. I personally this that it looks more like a cat's head than being anything related to beastie; but that might be intentional.

I voted "I like it". Maybe having to defend such an ugly logo everytime the perennial BSV-vs-any-other-OS flamewar breaks out will make the FreeBSD fanboys tone down their elitist asshattery... _________________ Back again... |

it is like pokemon, I quite like it. Keep the retro one in there for posterity sake though.
I now have the urge to buy a FreeBSD T-Shirt with the old logo (black TShirt) anyone know of a supplier in the UK? |

| Somehow that could have been more devilish. The "horns" could be pointier. Perhaps the ball could have eyes, or something. Otherwise it's fine. It just takes some time to get used to. |

| Beastie never went anywhere. It's still the same mascot it has always been. Beastie was never a logo. |

While he will remain the mascot, he will get second-class treatment to the new logo and will not feature in many official publications.
A similar situation happens with gentoo. We have the 'G' as gentoo's official logo and it is incorporated in most official documents. Larry the Cow, gentoo's mascot hardly gets a mention. |

I think it works. As a product that can be distributed, the logo looks much more friendly. However, Beastie is still the mascot.
I'm ok with it. I think there probably were better logos, but this one works. |

kinda XPish i'd say!
anyway I ain't sayin beastie was bad.., In such a modern graphics age, old 2d graphix really don't sell, thanx to Windozes' XP logo redefining the 3-d graphix scene altogether.
EDIT : WOW! a 50-50 on the VOTE! Never thought that many liked, it! |

| To clarify something, Beastie was never a logo. He was, and remains, the mascot. |
