Portage needs some method of forcing merges of masked ebuilds. My method if renaming package.mask works, but is probobly not the best.

If this has already been posted, sorry. I looked, but didn;t find it.

Well, yeah, just open up package.mask and comment out the offending lines.

Or, we could make a package.mask.mask, so we can still emerge rsync --clean without having to recomment stuff... heh.

That would be a good idea. Something like emerge --mask filename - the --mask bit to say that it is masked and it should check package.mask for more info... or something. I like that idea :D

i like the emerge --mask filename idea. with the rapid progress portage has been making lately, i'm sure a feature like this is bound to show up in the near future.
