Problem with my xorg.conf file.
GEAR: Sun Sparc 60 w/ one cpu and 21" Sun-Sparc monitor and sun keyboard/mouse

Here's my xorg.conf file, which is based on the examples posted on the xorg site:

I'm worried about the fonts, and no matching visuals. Thoughts? |

One other thing to note, I can't find a rgb file at either:
RgbPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/x11/rgb" (xorg site, 2.6 kernel)
or
RgbPath "/usr/lib/x11/rgb" (xorg site, 2.4 kernel)
you'll see this in my log if you want me to spit the whole thing out. |

What version of xorg-x11 is this, and how did you build it? (I.e., what USE options.)
You should not need to specify '/usr/X11R6/...' for anything; indeed, it's wrong. You should have a symbolic link /usr/X11R6 -> ../usr//, and if you don't, you will need to clean out /usr/X11R6, then create the link.
Rgbpath is probably /usr/lib/X11/rgb --- just look in that directory to see.
Other than that: x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r6 should work fine on a U60/Creator system: Indeed, this is what I use on an identical system with kernel 2.4.31-sparc-r2:

Please compare what you are using with that one, use xorg-x11-6.8.2-r6 (upgrade if needed; you'll have to put it into your /etc/portage/package.keywords file thus:
=x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2* ~sparc
or something equivalent.
If it still fails, please post your entire /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.
Oh, one more thing: In /etc/portage/package.use, I have this:
Code: |
x11-base/xorg-x11 -doc bitmap-fonts dlloader -hardened -insecure-drivers nls opengl pam -static truetype-fonts type1-fonts xaa -xprint xv
|
Sorry I can't provide more information, but it looks as if your installation is incomplete if you can't find /usr/lib/X11/rgb.txt.
Regards, |
