For me, Azureus only crashes when I start it up and there are torrents already open. That is, if I exit it while downloading one, it crashes when starting up. From the console, it gives this error:
Code: | Attempting to start Azureus...
**** DHT: Anti-spoof currently disabled for old clients ****
(<unknown>:22477): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Deprecated function. User modifications to the MIME database are no longer supported.
/usr/bin/azureus: line 47: 22477 Segmentation fault java -cp $(java-config -p systray4j,azureus-bin 2>/dev/null) -Djava.library.path="${AZDIR}" org.gudy.azureus2.ui.swt.Main "$1"
|
With just the libm patches it is fine. Any ideas? |

dan@localhost ~ $ emerge -pv blackdown-jdk
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] dev-java/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.02 +browserplugin +doc +mozilla 0 kB
Total size of downloads: 0 kB
How can I get 1.5? The sun java stuff is masked. |

Add it along with the latest azureus and its depend swt to your /etc/portage/package.keywords:
Code: | dev-java/sun-jre-bin ~amd64
net-p2p/azureus-bin ~amd64
dev-java/swt ~amd64 |
Then emerge sun-jre-bin (you'll have to download the distfiles manually), switch to it with java-config and emerge azureus-bin.
It would be great to know if the latest java and azureus solves these issues! |

I'm already on ~amd64. I emerge sun-jre-bin, and when attempting to set the system jvm, I get:
localhost ~ # java-config --set-system-vm=sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04
javac not found at /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/bin/javac or /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/jre/bin/javac
javadoc not found at /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/bin/javadoc or /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/jre/bin/javadoc
jar not found at /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/bin/jar or /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/jre/bin/jar
rmic not found at /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/bin/rmic or /opt/sun-jre-bin-1.5.0.04/jre/bin/rmic
THIS SYSTEM VM IS NOT SUFFICIENT, REQUIRED BINARIES WERE NOT FOUND
System Virtual Machine set
You may want to update your enviroment by running:
"/usr/sbin/env-update && source /etc/profile" |

That seems to have done the trick. Does anyone know when the 1.5 version of blackdown will be out? |

Ok, I updated to java 1.5.0.04, remerged azureus, d/l & untar overlay, digested, and am ready to emerge glibc. However I want a before test with memcpy but can't seem to find it ANYWHERE! Where is it? What package does it come with, etc? Thanks!
Edit: I just found the memcpy.c file on the bugzilla, but don't know what to do with it now. some help please? |

Ok, I got memcpy working. And the patched glibc compiled. the results:
Before:
Code: | thor ~ # ./memcpy 2200 1000 1048576
Memory to memory copy rate = 1770.920166 MBytes / sec. Block size = 1048576.
thor ~ # time gimp
real 0m19.983s
user 0m1.766s
sys 0m0.244s
|
After:
Code: | thor ~ # ./memcpy 2200 1000 1048576
Memory to memory copy rate = 2258.734375 MBytes / sec. Block size = 1048576.
thor ~ # time gimp
real 0m4.599s
user 0m2.161s
sys 0m0.204s
|
The time gimp was for it to load and me close it right after the tip of the day came up.
Nice improvements so far! Azureus IS working for me so far as well. I'll have to wait and see what else is faster. Thanks! |

I want a JDK, not just a JRE, and the sun jdk is currently masked on amd64. |

Methinks it works good.
Code: |
memcopy 2000 1000 1048576
Before:
Memory to memory copy rate = 1369.979370 MBytes / sec. Block size = 1048576.
After:
Memory to memory copy rate = 2156.373535 MBytes / sec. Block size = 1048576.

What's different in the -r2 overlay? And has the link in the original post updated with it? |

the tarball with the overlay has the same name, so the link never needs updating |
