I would like to use my Alpha to help my laptop with its compiling via the wonders of distcc, so , stage 1
# crossdev -t i686-pc-linux-gnu
* Sorry, but your host system needs to have
* an unstable version of gcc in order to
* keep from screwing things up.
Huh, an UNSTABLE version to avoid screwing things up? What am I missing here?
Thanks, |

The current stable gcc version on alpha isn't updated to support crossdev. I'm strongly considering stabling gcc-3.4.4-r1 and will probably do so in a few days. 3.4.4-r1 works fine with crossdev. |

I was just going to post a "How is this coming along?" message, when I noticed that 3.4.4 has just been marked stable. I must have just missed it when I synced yesterday. I look forward to trying out the new compiler this evening and getting that distcc going :-)
