The ebuild compiled and installed ok, but when I run 'xmame' I get the following shell outout:

I have no experience with *mame under Linux: I only have run mame32 a while back on M$, but really would like to get it running on Gentoo. A forum search reveals a similar issue which turned out to be bad rom paths or something, but it seems to be not the case here. In any case I have not found enough info to get the ebuild install working, so any help is appreciated ;)

First of all, it has to be asked - do you have the Pacman ROM on your system?

That's right. I couldn't be bothered figuring out the problem (I just wanted a quick look rather than a day of hassle ;-)) so I installed the Grustibus front end. In the GUI you can set your ROM paths (beneath the homedir if you like) and just put the ROMs there.

Even if you don't have screenshots, flyers, cabinet photo's, etc., just make sure the directories for those items (stated in Grustibus preferences) exists and you'll be able to load your ROMs.

If you don't have the GTK libraries installed, maybe you wont want to install Grustibus because of the dependencies. In which case, I'm not helping. ;-)
