Is there Linux program allowing one to draw architectural plans
for home re-design?
While not looking for the professional quality that an architect
would use, I am looking for a program that has a database with
the standard sizes of cupboards, sinks, doorways ... and allows easy
repositioning of walls. _________________ Your thread resolved? Putting [SOLVED] in its title helps all Gentooers. (Button "edit" , first post)

Hi,
I haven't got a solution for u, but I am looking for the same thing.
A simple template plan like it is provided by visio would be perfect. (With doors, etc: and maybe the posibility to specifiy measures over attributes)
Would be happy for any solution or workarounds.

Hi,
I found for those who are really interested a solution:
http://www.thekompany.com/products/kivio/stencils.php3
But those are not free: each stencil set costs about 6-10 USD.
(The architectural stencil costs 8 USD)
For me I still prefere to find another way, especially since the descriptions are not very detailed. (I couldn't figure out if it is possible to enter measures as attributes and what icons are eventually really available.)
One question: Does any one maybe know about a way to transfer visio stencils to kivio stencils? (And if yes, what would this mean regarding the legal aspects?)

Did you take a look at qcad?
Its pretty generic, and 2D, but looks usable for this.
Its in portage. _________________ * most bugs can be reduced to either dependency or state *
