help! i can't emerge xemacs now and i think its's for the same reason i couldn't emerge xmms. it tells me checking for ant, checking whether it works...no (*sniff*) and then it stops. But searching for ant does show /usr/bin/ant . And yesterday i know i did an emerge ant!
on the bugs page, there's a big ant...very suitable. jk |

Hmmm...I guess it's finding ant, but finding it unsuitable...?
I had similar problems with xemacs and gpm, so I added -gpm to my USE variable, and that fixed it. Try either unemerging ant or adding the appropriate "-" parameter to your USE variable. I'd try -java, but don't really know.

Well, i tried emerging xmms and xemacs again and no problems...i don't know what the issue was but i think it was with postgresql somehow....i really have no idea, but i emerge rsync and emerge --update world and now they both installed great!
I'm wondering about those USE parameters. Are the ones listed in the USE tutorial the only ones that are available to use?
Oh, and i'm getting this problem too:
emerge --thankyou
!!! Error: --thankyou is an invalid option
I really don't think it should be

I'm not sure--I usually check /etc/make.profile/make.defaults for the list of use variables.
