Looking over the Jackass! server logs, I get the impression that a number of people are downloading and installing multiple versions of Jackass.

Please vote and let me know how many PCs you run Jackass! on.

Thanks! :D

I think it's a project to make gentoo run better on old PCs. You don't need to be rude.

I could see how and AMD-64 user would view the proejct that way.

More accurately, Jackass! is a project that brings a stable, optimized GCC 3.4.4-equipped toolkit to the only architecture on which GCC 3.4.4 is not already in the stable branch: x86.

Yes, Jackass! makes "old" PCs run alot faster -- primarily because it allows x86 users to use the improved toolkit that is enjoyed on so many other architectures but remains "unstable" on x86 and as such, is not included in the standard Gentoo x86 distribution.

I have one box running at the moment but I voted 2 because I downloaded 2 versions (the pentium4 version is now running on a friends laptop).
I think today I will have running 2 boxes, testing the 2005.1 pentium build ;)

I wasn't rude. I was just requesting a feature :P Now for example I can't vote because there is no option matching my current state.

Henceforth 100+ will be the "0 or WTF is Jackass?!" category.

A friend of mine and I are just setting up a pentiumIII@600-box with 128mbRAM as a surf/mail/office-station for my girlfriend. ATM, it is compiling xfce4, so most of the work is allready done.

If everything works fine, I'll considere switching on my athlon-xp as well! :D

And Bob!

Thanx for all the work you and your team have done (are doing), BTW!

Just have to say Thank You to Bob P and the other devs in the Jackass! project. Love how GCC 3.4.4 works on my Athlon-XP box. :D

The optimizations introduced are a definate boost to overall system speed. I borked my system three times trying to get it (GCC) installed on a regular Gentoo 2005.0 box and was still going to try more when i ran across the project.

Now downloading the 2005.1 tarball with my gaming box to attempt try this newest version.

it seems that all of the people who are voting "0" have missed the point that this is a poll for Jackass! users. its not a survey that asks "what is your favorite linux distro?"

I didn't state my favourite linux distro ... I stated which distros/OSs are running on machines in my house. If you simply had an option such as ( 0 - I see no need to run a precompiled gentoo meta-distro), I wouldn't have had to explain :P

We installed 2 wonderful working Jackass 2005.0.
One on a P3 800, One a P3 Athlon XP 2400+ .

Just that one day after the installation the P3 broke down ...
anyway, that was a good reason to make the Athlon the new server and get an AMD64 ;)

once i've got some time there will be another Jackass on my Notebook (AMD 2400+ M) - looking heavily forward to it!

btw, I was really sorry to see you took away the docs from the homepage...

anyway, thx a lot!!
