i am having a major problem with getting my epson stylus color 680 working on usb...i have managed to install the epson driver with no problems whatsoever, it recognises the printer (gives all the stuff about ink remaining etc) but the printer simply refuses to spit anything out...
i have tried printing a nozzle check pattern, unmerged cups, foomatic, gimp-print-cups, reinstalling the epson thing and nothing works
i read some previous threads with people who had similar problems, but didn't see how any of the problems were resolved
anyone got any ideas?
thanx

ok an update....
i managed to get something to come out of the printer - except all it was was tons of blank sheets of paper
that happened after i'd unmerged and re-emerged cups, ghostscript, the epson driver, and all the other stuff in the gentoo printing howto
unfortunately the only way i could get the printer to stop spitting out paper was to switch it off
after i powered it on again it didn't work again
anyone????
getting very angry with printer |

Try emerging gimp-print-cups 4.3.5, this is the last version which works for me, all above (4.3.8 - 4.3.12) do nothing for me (ESC 740)
Code: | emerge /usr/portage/net-print/gimp-print-cups/gimp-print-cups-4.3.5.ebuild

|

I was having problems with my Epson printer, too. The solution that I found is tacked at the end of this thread
To add to that, I have no idea if "hpijs" is necessary to compile ijs-config or ijsgimpprint. I did emerge hpijs before doing any/all of the steps linked to above.
Hope this helps! _________________ My glaucoma just got worse! |
