I have a creator3d 3 card laying around that I want to put in my u10 running gentoo. It is the 501-4788 model.
I put it in the computer but nothing comes on the screen when I power it on. Do i need to change something before installing this graphics card?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Always standing, I am a tree awaiting the lightning. -Samael, Crown |

I don't think you need to do anything special. I am assuming you have the correct video converter so that you can plug your monitor into the Creator, and that you are not plugging your keyboard into the Creator. I.e., leave your keyboard where it is, attach the converter to your monitor cable so that you can plug into the 13W3 connector on the Creator, and reboot. At least, when I did this on a U10 some time ago, as far as I can recall, the system defaulted to the Creator.
Others here will have more current information. |

IF you have to do anything it will be somthing like:
in OBP
<OK> nvalias screen /path/to/creator/card
But like has been said, the machine will probably default to the correct card and you only need to use the above command to use the onboard card with the creator in place (if your ever that mad) _________________ Toady

It is possible the card is bad. I bought a Creator 3D off Ebay for my U2 to replace a cgsix. When I removed the old card and put it the C3d it would not boot and I got absolutely no display whatsoever. The only visible clues I had where the power light on the box and about every 45 seconds all the keyboard LEDs would blink about 3-4 times - and nothing else other than hearing the hard disk spin up.
Anyhow I bit the bullet and bought yet another Creator3D from ebay through a different seller this time. The second one worked just fine without having to do anything additional. Luckily I got both cards dirt cheap.
Just my 2 cents... |

Of corse you are now plugging your monitor into the 13W3 conector on the creator card and not the internal one still _________________ Toady
