Problem with 'emerge sync"

I am getting the following error when I doing "emerge sync"

"rsync:read error:Connection reset by peer
rsync error:error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c (177)
rsync:connection unexpectedly closed
rsync error:errorin rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)

I had 1.4.rc3 installed with xfree,kde,gnome

I guess there has been some corruption in my filesystem .I am using reiserfs in my root partion and ext3 for my boot partition.

Please help

Try again. This can happen due to a number of network issues.
