This URL is about Solaris and not Gentoo/SPARC. What about Gentoo/SPARC?
Quote: | # emerge nxclient
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "nxclient" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- net-misc/nxclient-1.4.0-r5 (masked by: -sparc keyword)
- net-misc/nxclient-1.4.0-r4 (masked by: -sparc keyword)
- net-misc/nxclient-1.3.2-r1 (masked by: -sparc keyword)
- net-misc/nxclient-1.4.0-r3 (masked by: -sparc keyword) |
Is there a problem for FreeNX to incorporate with the SPARC platform in general? |

Chances are if it has no SPARC keywords at all, we haven't tested it. Feel free to do so and report the results at the Gentoo Bugzilla server. |

Thanks. Is there a way to unmask it? I've tried
Code: | ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="-sparc" emerge nxclient |
and also tried to emerge it with net-client/nxclient in /etc/portage/package.unmask, but I always get the same message: that this package is masked. Even with "net-client/nxclient -sparc" in /etc/portage/package.keywords it doesn't work.
Well, I also have never figured out how to unmask packages which are masked by -*, please tell me! |

If a package has a -arch keyword to it, it means that it has been tested and will not work on that architecture for some reason. In the case of nxclient, I think that is because it is a binary-only package. |

in this case, adding a keyword is easier than unmasking since the package is hard masked in the ebuild itself...
Code: | /etc/portage/package.keywords:net-misc/nxclient x86 |
let us know if it works
(i guess there is a good reason why is it hard masked) |

Thank you.
Yes, looks like the reason is good:
Quote: | $ /usr/NX/bin/nxviewer
/usr/NX/bin/nxviewer: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/NX/lib/libXcompext.so.1: undefined symbol: _NXEnableCleanGet
$ /usr/NX/bin/nxprint
bash: /usr/NX/bin/nxprint: cannot execute binary file
$ /usr/NX/bin/nxclient
bash: /usr/NX/bin/nxclient: cannot execute binary file
$ /usr/NX/bin/nxdesktop
/usr/NX/bin/nxdesktop: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/NX/lib/libXcompext.so.1: undefined symbol: _NXEnableCleanGet
$ /usr/NX/bin/nxagent
/usr/NX/bin/nxagent: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/NX/lib/libXcompext.so.1: undefined symbol: _NXEnableCleanGet |
only nxssh can be called without getting an error. |
